Reverend Marcia Bowman is the mother of four God-given children and six grandchildren: a married elementary school teacher, a married Lieutenant in the U.S. Marines, a child care business manager and a counselor for adolescents. She serves as a Blue & Gold Officer for the U.S. Naval Academy and teaches Project Management for a community college in East Carolina; a novelist, professional technical writer, teacher, trainer, Time Management and Parenting Workshop leader and facilitator. She is honored to be licensed to Minister by the reverend Pastor Edward Ellis, Sr. at First Bryan Baptist Church in Savannah, GA. First Bryan Baptist Church is the oldest continuously African American Baptist church in the United States. She is was certified to facilitate Masterlife Discipleship Training at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Herndon, VA. (Pastor James Graham). In May of 2007, she received a D-Ministry and was ordained through the Universal Life Church in Spokaine, Washington. Currently Reverend Bowman is pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University with a specialty in policies affecting the New Older Americans (or Baby Boomers). Her baptism, at the age of 9, was through the evangelism of her grandmother and Jr. Church (minister) superintendent, Mrs. Ella W. Ruffin at Ebenezer Baptist Church and by the late reverend Dr. James B. Cayce and has been fortunate to be associated with these churches where the Holy Bible is THE Book of reference and where God lives, resides and is glorified and honored.
Reverend Bowman has served as a Youth Sunday School teacher, Collegiate Ministry Director, Yamacraw Outreach Reading Center Director and Scholarship Committees, Sisterhood, Women's Ministry, Women's Sunday School, Archives Committee among other activities.
Other volunteer efforts have included PTA board member as Newsletter and Fundraising Chairperson and local school and county school Advisory board member as well as county board member for Sponsors for the Gifted in Fulton County, GA. She was an elementary school tournament chess club founder and U.S. Chess Federation affiliated and ranked coach and middle school Human Relations Chairperson in Fairfax County, VA. Sponsors for New and Talented Artists (SONATA) Board member, Jack & Jill of America, Inc. (Reston) Board member as Secretary, Education Committee Chairperson, Scholarship Committee Chairperson, Teen Activities coordinator.
